Each year, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades coordinates a nationwide Community Day of Action, where union members volunteer to make a difference and give back to their communities. On April 17th, PDC 30 members coordinated three food drives throughout North-Central Illinois. Goods and funds were donated by PDC 30 members throughout the week, and all items were distributed to Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry in Aurora, Midwest Food Bank in Morton, and Rock River Valley Pantry in Rockford. Each pantry received multiple car loads of donated food, which together totaled almost 2,000 pounds.
In addition to the donation of goods, each food pantry also received a $1,000 check on behalf of the PDC 30 membership. Thank you to all of the members who participated in our effort to give back to our local communities - we could not do so much in one day without such amazing volunteers and members!
